PROGRAM

 1st DAY Arrival at the airport in Catania. Meeting with tour leader/interpreter. Transfer to the hotel by bus (included in optional transportation service) for a visit to Ragusa Ibla, the cradle of the late Sicilian Baroque and Human Heritage with its beautiful churches and the Ibleo garden. Made known by the TV series dedicated to the Commissario Montalbano, this wonderful ancient city contains over fifty churches and many Baroque-style buildings. In the afternoon, visit to Donnafugata Castle and its park. On the Castle’s terrace were shot several scenes of the famous fiction. Arrival at the hotel, accommodation in rooms, dinner and overnight;

2nd DAY Breakfast in hotel and departure for Ispica Caves, an archaeological site with ancient rock settlements made from limestone. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon, the tour continues for a visit to Modica, well-known for its decorations, the pastry and baroque. It is a treasure chest of countless architectural treasures in Baroque art and for this it was declared UNESCO Human Heritage. The day will continue with a visit to one of the most renowned chocolate producers in the area, where we will participate in the production of the "nectar of the gods" and taste the delicious chocolate produced still today with the recipe of the ancient Aztecs. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight;

 

3rd DAY Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the places of "Il Commissario Montalbano". We will start with Scicli, better known as "Vigata", thanks to the famous fiction. Walk through the old town. The tour will continue with a visit to the beach of Punta Secca ("Marinella", where Montalbano lives) and the Fornace Penna (the "mànnara"), situated in contrada Pisciotto in Sampieri. Lunch in the restaurant during the tour. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight;

4th DAY Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Vittoria, set of the TV series in the episode "The Terracotta Dog". The city is full of villas and palaces. Particularly interesting is the Basilica of San Giovanni the Baptist and the famous Piazza del Popolo that houses the pivotal buildings of the city: the municipal theatre in neoclassical style; the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, in late Baroque style. Lunch in restaurant. The tour continues to Comiso, where were shot several scenes of the episode "The arancini of Montalbano". We will visit the downtown, represented by Piazza del Municipio and the "center" of Comiso par excellence: the Source Diana. In the square, which is one of the most characteristic and scenic spots of the city, there are many public and private buildings. We will continue the visit with the Church of the Annunciation, one of the jewels of Comiso, which rises at the top of a spectacular staircase and is undoubtedly among the oldest in the city. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight;

 

5th DAY Breakfast in hotel. Departure.
